From March 2022 until May 2025, I had the pleasure of writing for vpnMentor, a popular global domain that blogs and reviews VPNs (Virtual Private Networks).
Tasks included competitor research and analysis, SEO (and latterly, GEO), writing blog posts and VPN reviews, and creating images.
At just over 3 years, it’s the second-longest job I’ve ever had, and it was a tremendous learning curve. I worked alongside some incredibly capable and creative people, thanks to whom, some of my articles were even featured in Google snippets (back when that was a thing).
Despite the technical nature of the site, we were encouraged to write with personality and flair. I was able to get in plenty of references to my favourite shows (and my nephew!). I even sneaked some humour in:
With my penchant for the supernatural, one of the most fun VPNs to write for was CyberGhost. I became a Ghostie in May 2025 and joined the site to write for its blog. Further details to follow!
